Rock’n’Roll Football – St. Pauli on tour with Less Than Jake and Pepper
Less Than Jake and Pepper are tearing the roof off. The crowd is moshing away, joining in at full volume on every single line as the two bands are playing their raucous sets. Happy faces no matter where you look. In the end confetti is filling the venue.
On 20th of January the time had come: The “St. Pauli Presents: Less Than Jake & Pepper” Tour started in Dallas. Coinciding with the launch of the brand new US shop www.fcsp-shop.us St. Pauli sent these two American punk bands on tour across the States in the very outstanding St. Pauli branded skull and crossbones tour buses. Of course, those vehicles picked up a lot of attention on the street and the bands agreed: “Those buses are so sick!”
Hamburg’s legendary football club FC St. Pauli has had a strong connection with music and especially Rock’n’Roll for decades. Bands and fans were equally hyped that the club showed up in the punk rock scene by presenting this tour and making its merchandise available in the US. Each night of the tour, the merch table was the place for lengthy conversations about the club, its attitude and what it stands for. Some concertgoers were surprised to learn: No, St. Pauli is not a beer!
Less Than Jake and Pepper were joined by support bands Kash’d out, The Attack as well as huge St. Pauli fans Red City Radio and The Bunny Gang. Obviously they had a blast. Every night at least one band member turned up on stage in a St. Pauli shirt and Pepper drummer Yesod Williams hardly let go of his St. Pauli lighter. Needless to say that St. Pauli‘s values and the band’s attitudes make a perfect fit. A sequel to this love story is quite likely. “Next time we’re in Hamburg”, Pepper promised, “we’ll definitely come to see a St. Pauli match!”
